Have you ever seen tin foil? Tin foil is a special type of very thin metal. This means, you can twist and bend it into different shapes! You may have encountered tin foil in your kitchen. People use it often to cover food — wrapping up leftover or laying it over a dish someone is cooking in the oven. However, did you realize that you can use tin foil in your air fryer, too? Air fryers are kitchen appliances that cook by circulating hot air and make food crispy and delightful.
Make a “Basket”: When you’re cooking something delicate, like fish or soft vegetables, it can easily fall apart in the air fryer. You can take some tin foil and use it to create a little basket to avoid this. Subsequently, prepare a square-cut terne foil. Then, carefully press it down into the bottom of your air fryer basket. Then, bend the edges of the tin foil inward, in the shape of a basket to keep your food from falling over. Finally, you can cook soft things without your food falling apart!
Build yourself a divider: Since you can cook various types of foods at the same time, you might want to keep them separate in the air fryer, and this is achievable with a divider, which, for the most part, you can simply fashion out of tin foil. Cut a long strip of tin foil and fold it back and forth, like an accordion, until it takes the form of a zig-zag. Then use this partition to separate your food, having chicken and potatoes, for example, on either side of it. In this way, each of your foods cooks individually but at the same time!
Line the Basket: If you don't like cleaning food off the bottom of the air fryer basket after cooking, you can line it with tin foil. To do so, just rip off a piece of tin foil that is slightly larger than your air fryer basket. Then mold the foil to the inside of the basket. When you are done cooking, you simply pull the tin foil out and toss it. That means cleaner air fryer baskets/less scrubbing for you!
Catch drippings: If you are cooking anything very greasy, like bacon or specific meats, tin foil can be used to catch the drippings. To do this, set a big patch of tin foil out under your food in the air fryer. Be sure to crimp up the edges of the foil, to form a kind of tray. This will help capture any excess fat or liquid released from the food, so it does not create a mess at the bottom of your air fryer.
Protect the Heating Element One other smart use of tin foil is to protect the heating element in your air fryer. To go about the task, you can take a sheet of tin foil and wrap it around the base of the heating part of the air fryer, leaving some space to allow air flow. This will prevent any food that may splatter from ruining the heating element, thus extending the life of your air fryer and keeping it performing well!
Foil Pouches: If you are cooking vegetables like potatoes or sweet potatoes, then you can create a foil pouch that will help cook evenly and keep delicious. To do this, tear a sheet of tin foil that is large enough to make a basin to hold your vegetables. Fold it to form a pouch shape. Then, put your vegetables, seasonings and a bit of oil in the bag. Wrap it up nice and snuggly and toss it into your air fryer. This will allow the vegetables to cook perfectly!
